Marion, IN – A Marion man, Stuart W. Roane III, has been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors following a horrific crash in September that resulted in serious injuries and a baby being ejected from the vehicle.

According to authorities, Roane faces charges of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury with a Schedule I or II substance, a Level 5 felony; operating while intoxicated – endangering, a Class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving causing bodily injury, also a Class A misdemeanor. The incident occurred on September 23, 2023, around 8:35 PM, when Schererville Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the intersection of Burr St and US 30. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle split in half and another with severe front-end damage. A mother and her baby, who were in the split vehicle, received immediate medical attention after the baby was ejected during the crash. Both were later transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle, now identified as Roane, was taken into custody, with alcohol and speed considered contributing factors to the accident.
