Gary, IN – A 40-year-old Indiana man was arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges after police responded to a reported bicycle crash in Gary, leading to the discovery of significant quantities of narcotics.

Officers with the Gary Police Department arrived at 13th Avenue and Grant Street around 6:53 a.m. following reports of a man lying in the roadway near a bicycle. First responders found the man, later identified as Justin McChristian of Gary, with shallow breathing but no visible injuries. Suspecting an overdose, the Gary Fire Department administered two doses of Narcan, stabilizing McChristian before transporting him to Methodist Northlake Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, officers located several bags at the scene containing illegal substances, including 6.5 pounds of marijuana, 321 grams of heroin, and 65 grams of fentanyl. Field tests confirmed the substances, and McChristian was arrested after being discharged from the hospital.

He faces charges for possession and dealing of controlled substances, with additional charges pending lab results. McChristian remains in custody at the Lake County Jail, and the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case.
