Saint Anthony, IN – A Saint Anthony man was arrested on Sunday after a single-vehicle crash on Schnellville Road led police to suspect impairment. Trooper Kayla Denk-Mundy, stationed near Saint Anthony, responded to the incident, where she encountered 43-year-old Rene Alanis Santos. Santos reportedly displayed visible signs of impairment when questioned by Denk-Mundy.
According to Indiana State Police, Santos was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and chemical testing. Following the assessment, officers took him into custody on a Class A misdemeanor charge of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (OVWI).
Santos is currently held at the Dubois County Jail on bond. The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance during the arrest.
The Indiana State Police reminds residents that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
