CORYDON, IN – Drivers across southern Indiana and northern Kentucky are encountering hazardous conditions Sunday morning as dense fog reduces visibility to less than half a mile. The sudden and significant drops in visibility create dangerous travel situations on area roadways.
According to a Dense Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Louisville, the conditions are expected to persist until 9 a.m. EDT / 8 a.m. CDT. The advisory covers portions of south-central Indiana and north-central and northwest Kentucky.
In Indiana, the impacted counties include Orange, Washington, Scott, Jefferson, Dubois, Crawford, Perry, Harrison, Floyd, and Clark. Cities such as Salem, Corydon, Jeffersonville, and New Albany are experiencing the low visibility. Across the river in Kentucky, the advisory is in effect for Hancock, Breckinridge, Meade, Oldham, Trimble, and Henry counties, affecting communities like Hawesville, Brandenburg, and La Grange.
Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain significant distance between vehicles. Sudden changes in visibility are likely, requiring extra caution on the roads.
The advisory remains in effect through the early morning hours, and drivers should stay alert until conditions improve.
