Dyer, IN – A driver was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash near the Indiana-Illinois state line, according to the Lake County, IN Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m. near the intersection of West 113th Avenue and State Line Road in unincorporated Dyer. Upon arrival, officers found the driver unresponsive.
According to investigators, a 1995 Chevy Tahoe was traveling north on State Line Road when it rolled onto its right side before leaving the roadway. The SUV then struck a tree on the Will County, IL side of the state line. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is working to determine what factors contributed to the crash. No further details have been released.
Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the driver.
