Lake County, IN – Beginning Sunday, Nov. 5, overnight lane closures will impact traffic on Interstate 94 between I-65 and State Road 149 as part of a pavement repair project. Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and contractor Rieth Riley Construction will reduce I-94 to one lane in each direction between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., six nights per week.
According to Lake County Homeland Security, the project will unfold in two phases, starting with patching work, expected to last about five nights. Phase two will shift three lanes of daytime traffic to the left beginning Sunday, Nov. 10, with overnight work continuing in single lanes. This phase will persist until mid-December.
A height limit of 13 feet, 9 inches will also be enforced on westbound I-94 between U.S. 20 and State Road 249. INDOT urges drivers to expect delays, adhere to lane changes, and exercise caution through work zones. The schedule is subject to weather conditions and may adjust as needed.
Motorists should anticipate potential slowdowns and plan accordingly.
