Yellowhead Township, IL – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Yellowhead Township on Thursday evening. The crash happened just before 6 p.m. near 12400 E and 12000 N Road.
Emergency responders found 29-year-old Jacob M. Reichers of Grant Park suffering from severe injuries. Beecher paramedics treated him at the scene. The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office pronounced Reichers dead shortly after.
Authorities identified the driver as a 31-year-old Indiana resident. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Officials have not released further details about potential causes.
Residents expressed concern about pedestrian safety in the area. The sheriff’s office urged drivers to remain cautious, especially on rural roads with limited visibility.
Authorities ask anyone with information to contact the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office.
Reichers’ family and friends are mourning his tragic loss.
