Porter County, IN – State Road 149 will close between C.R. 875 N/Robbins Road and C.R. 925 N for tree clearing and utility relocations starting October 14. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced the closure, which is expected to last about five days.
According to INDOT, this closure is necessary to prepare for a 2025 construction project. The official detour routes traffic along U.S. 20, State Road 49, and U.S. 6. Motorists are advised to follow these detours and allow extra travel time.
The road will close again in spring 2025 for intersection improvements at State Road 149 and Robbins Road. INDOT plans this work as part of broader efforts to enhance road safety and infrastructure in the area. Residents and commuters should anticipate additional traffic impacts during the spring construction period.
Drivers are encouraged to stay informed through INDOT’s updates on future closures and progress on the project.
