Indiana Authorities Seek Public’s Help Identifying Cremains Found in DeMotte

DeMotte, IN – Authorities in Jasper County are asking for the public’s help in identifying human cremains found inside an urn discovered on Azalea Street in DeMotte.

According to the Jasper County Coroner’s Office, DeMotte Police responded to a call on March 13 regarding a black urn found in the area. Upon investigation, the urn appeared to contain human cremains, but no identification tags were found inside. Officials have not determined who the remains belong to or how the urn ended up there.

Law enforcement is now seeking assistance from the public to identify the individual. Residents who recognize the urn or have any information about its origin are encouraged to contact DeMotte Police at (219) 987-3344, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at (219) 866-7344, or the Jasper County Coroner’s Office at (219) 866-7344.

Authorities have released an image of the urn in hopes of finding answers. They are asking anyone with relevant details to come forward to help return the cremains to the proper family.
