Indiana and Michigan Tornadoes Confirmed Following Severe March 30 Storms

Chicago, IL – Two EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed in Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan, causing significant damage from severe storms that swept through the region on the evening of March 30.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Northern Indiana, the storms produced straight-line winds, along with the two confirmed tornadoes, in Stark, Marshall, and Cass counties. The first tornado occurred near Oak Grove, IN, with estimated peak winds of 110 mph. The path length was 3.32 miles, with a maximum width of 750 yards. Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported from this tornado.

The second EF-1 tornado, confirmed in Edwardsburg, MI, had estimated peak winds of 100 mph and traveled for 2.06 miles. This tornado’s width was recorded at 100 yards, and no injuries or fatalities occurred here either.

Additional damage surveys are planned to continue throughout the region in the coming days, with officials urging residents to stay updated on storm damage reports. The severe weather event serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of spring storms in the Midwest.
