Chicago, IL — A mix of weather conditions is expected across Illinois through the weekend and into early next week, marked by scattered showers, cooler temperatures, and dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Michigan.
On Saturday, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely, particularly in the afternoon, with temperatures reaching a high between 77°F and 79°F. Lingering showers are expected near Lake Michigan in the evening, with lows dropping to between 63°F and 67°F.
Sunday will see continued chances of showers, but with reduced coverage at 20-40%. Highs will range from 75°F to 82°F. However, breezy northerly winds will create large waves, between 5 to 9 feet, along the southern Lake Michigan shores, creating dangerous swimming conditions through Monday night. The National Weather Service advises beachgoers to stay out of the water due to life-threatening currents and hazardous boating conditions.
As the new week begins, Monday’s high temperatures will range from 74°F to 78°F, with breezy conditions continuing. By Tuesday and Wednesday, dry weather will return, with seasonably cool temperatures ranging from the low 70s to high 70s, under mostly sunny skies.
