Illinois Veterans’ Homes See COVID-19 Uptick—Manteno Among Rising Locations

Springfield, IL – COVID-19 cases have surged today across Illinois Veterans’ Homes in LaSalle, Manteno, and Quincy. Residents and staff at these facilities are experiencing a rise in mild infections. Urgent action is needed to contain the spread.

As of today, 36 people tested positive for COVID-19 across the three facilities. According to the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA), LaSalle reported three residents and nine staff members infected. Manteno confirmed two residents and one staff member, while Quincy saw nine residents and 12 staff members test positive.

Health officials are implementing stringent measures to safeguard both veterans and staff. Residents are encouraged to stay in their rooms, practice social distancing, and wear masks in care areas. Enhanced cleaning and disinfection efforts have been intensified.

IDVA Director Terry emphasized the importance of continuing these precautions to minimize further spread. Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) experts are actively supporting these efforts, ensuring all CDC and state guidelines are followed closely. Residents and staff are urged to remain vigilant to protect their health and well-being.
