Joliet, IL – Drivers on westbound I-80 in Will County should prepare for overnight lane closures starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 12.
According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the interstate will be reduced to a single lane between Chicago Street (U.S. 52/Illinois 53) and Larkin Avenue (Illinois 7). At 1 a.m., crews will implement full traffic stops lasting no longer than 15 minutes at a time. The closures are required for the safe removal of an overhead changeable message sign.
Weather permitting, all lanes are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday, March 13. Commuters should expect potential delays and seek alternate routes if possible.
