New Lenox, IL – A free two-day suicide intervention skills training workshop is being offered in New Lenox this month to help community members and professionals learn how to recognize and respond to individuals at risk.
According to the New Lenox Safe Community Coalition, the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) will take place Wednesday, June 18, and Thursday, June 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the New Lenox Village Hall Community Room. The training is open to the public and participants must attend both full days.
Organized in partnership with Sertoma Star Services, the ASIST workshop is designed by LivingWorks Education, Inc., and requires no prior experience. The interactive program teaches suicide first-aid, empowering attendees with practical tools and confidence to intervene and potentially save a life.
The ASIST program is suitable for anyone in the community — from healthcare professionals and educators to concerned citizens — and includes hands-on learning. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) may also be available for qualifying attendees.
Organizers emphasize that registration is required due to limited space. Interested participants can register at the Eventbrite link here.
