Illinois State Police Arrest Chicago Man in Road Rage Attempted Murder Case

Lansing, IL – Illinois State Police arrested 31-year-old Jerrell W. Harris of Chicago for his alleged involvement in a road rage-related expressway shooting on September 21. The charges include Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, both Class X felonies.

ISP responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:02 p.m. reporting a shooting on Interstate 80 near Torrance Avenue. Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident. The victim, injured by gunfire, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the ISP, an investigation identified Harris as the suspect. Authorities presented the case to the Cook County State’s Attorney, leading to Harris’s formal charges. ISP urges drivers to remain calm in traffic and avoid escalating aggressive driving encounters.
