Illinois Route 47 Incident: Marseilles Man Charged After Striking Sheriff’s Vehicle in Oncoming Traffic

Kane County, IL – Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser has charged Indalecio Munoz, 53, of Marseilles, Illinois, with numerous offenses following a traffic incident involving a Kane County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. 

According to official reports, Munoz is accused of crossing into oncoming traffic on Illinois Route 47 on October 23, 2023, and colliding head-on with a vehicle driven by Detective Brian Anderson, who was on duty at the time. The collision resulted in serious injuries to Detective Anderson.

Munoz faces five counts of Class 3 Felony for Commercial Motor Vehicle Violations, one count of Aggravated Reckless Driving (Class 4 Felony), alongside additional misdemeanor and petty offense charges related to the crash. An investigation into the incident unveiled multiple commercial motor vehicle violations associated with Munoz’s vehicle.

Following a detention hearing, Munoz was released under strict conditions, including prohibitions against driving, consuming alcohol, intoxicating compounds, and any contact with Detective Anderson. 

Munoz is scheduled for a subsequent court appearance on March 7, 2024.
