Glen Ellyn, IL – July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month, and the Glen Ellyn Police Department is urging residents to take precautions against vehicle theft. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 1 million vehicle thefts were reported in 2023. Illinois ranked fifth among the top 10 states for vehicle thefts.

They advise always parking in well-lit areas, closing and locking all windows and doors, and never leaving keys in the vehicle or unattended while the vehicle is running.
