St. Charles, IL – A Kane County man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after prosecutors said he sold counterfeit pills containing fentanyl that led to a 24-year-old man’s death.
According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, Judge David Kliment sentenced Eric R. Fabisiak after he pleaded guilty March 24 to drug-induced homicide and armed violence, both Class X felonies.
Prosecutors said St. Charles police were called June 17, 2025, to the 1100 block of South 3rd Street, where Amun Ahmed, of Bolingbrook, was found unconscious and not breathing. The Kane County Coroner’s Office determined Ahmed died from combined drug toxicity.
Authorities said Ahmed had allegedly taken one of 15 blue pills purchased from Fabisiak the previous evening. The pills allegedly appeared to be oxycodone but tested positive for fentanyl.
Investigators later stopped Fabisiak and allegedly found 72 similar fentanyl pills, a loaded Smith & Wesson .380 revolver, cocaine, a scale, plastic bags and ammunition in his vehicle. Prosecutors said Fabisiak admitted he sold the pills and knew they contained fentanyl.
Fabisiak received 12 years for drug-induced homicide and 15 years for armed violence. The sentences must be served consecutively.
Assistant State’s Attorney Kelly Orland said Fabisiak’s actions directly resulted in Ahmed’s death and endangered others.
