Dubuque, IA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Iowa and Illinois, bringing snow, strong winds, and icy conditions through Saturday evening. The storm is expected to create hazardous road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

According to the National Weather Service, affected areas include Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Rock Island, and Freeport. Snowfall totals are expected to reach between 2 and 5 inches, with winds gusting up to 35 mph. A brief period of heavy snow is possible late Friday into early Saturday, with reduced visibility below half a mile at times.

From 3 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, southeast Iowa and northwest Illinois may also see light ice accumulation, increasing the risk of slick roads. Travel could be dangerous, especially during the morning and evening commutes.

Motorists are urged to slow down and check 511ia.org or gettingaroundillinois.com for real-time road conditions. Pedestrians should be cautious of icy sidewalks and driveways. The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday.
