Quad Cities, IA/IL – Patchy frost could greet early risers in northern Illinois Friday morning, but the region will quickly warm into a stretch of sunny, mild days heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, Wednesday brings a 20–40% chance of afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms. No severe storms are expected, but skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs ranging from 73 to 80 degrees.
Cooler air filters in Thursday and Friday, with lows dipping into the low 40s and even upper 30s in northern areas. Patchy morning frost is possible Friday, especially north of Interstate 80, before temperatures rebound into the low 70s under mostly sunny skies.
Cities like Rock Island, Moline, and Davenport will enjoy warmer, dry conditions by Saturday and Sunday, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s and overnight lows in the upper 40s to low 50s. Motorists and early commuters Friday should watch for localized frost on rural roads.
Residents are encouraged to protect sensitive plants Thursday night and Friday morning, particularly in northern and outlying areas. Beyond that, no additional weather alerts are in effect.
