
Dyer, IN – This evening, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., residents are advised to expect traffic disruptions as a military funeral procession honors 27-year-old SSG US Army Brandon Fassoth, who passed away while on active duty.
According to the Town of Dyer Police Department, the procession will start at O’Hare Airport, travel through Indiana via Route 30, and proceed to the Calumet Park Funeral Chapel on Cleveland/Taft Street in Merrillville.
Upon entering Indiana, the procession will be accompanied by various regional police, fire, and emergency agencies. The Illinois Patriot Guard will lead the escort from O’Hare Airport to the Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, with the Indiana Patriot Guard taking over at Dyer Town Hall. Additionally, multiple motorcycle clubs will join the procession as it crosses the state line.
Residents are encouraged to show their support by lining the streets from Dyer Town Hall on Route 30 to Cleveland/Taft Street in Merrillville, waving flags or standing with their hands over their hearts to pay respects to the young soldier. Authorities request that motorists plan for temporary road restrictions and allow extra travel time.
