Livingston County, IL – Starting Monday, roadwork will affect travel on I-55 near Dwight, as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) closes lanes for bridge demolition.
The overnight closures will run from 7 p.m. on Monday until 7 a.m. Monday, October 21. IDOT plans to close I-55 at the Illinois 17 interchange (exit 217) to demolish the south half of the Illinois 17 bridge over I-55.
According to IDOT, traffic will detour off and onto I-55 using the exit and entrance ramps at Illinois 17. Traffic will still move through the area, but only one lane will remain open in both directions on the southern half of the bridge.
The closures may cause delays, so drivers should seek alternate routes. For current updates on traffic and road conditions, IDOT encourages checking their website.
