Mackinaw, IL – Illinois hunters can register now for an October wingshooting clinic in Central Illinois designed to sharpen shooting skills through realistic, field-based clay target presentations.
According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, registration is open for the Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club Hunters Wingshooting Clinic in Mackinaw on Oct. 10-11. The event is also supported by the Illinois Conservation Foundation.
The clinic is designed to recreate hunting scenarios using clay targets that mimic the flight patterns and behavior of game species including pheasants, quail, rabbits, doves and ducks.
The Oct. 10 session begins at 8 a.m. at Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club, 13001 County Road 2900 E in Mackinaw. The listed cost is $35 per person, per session.
Organizers say each session typically consists of six groups with four participants each. Groups rotate through multiple shooting stations, where instructors provide guidance and feedback based on each target presentation.
Registration is confirmed after participants complete the sign-up process and submit required skill assessment forms. Hunters younger than 18 must also provide a completed parental or guardian permission form.
The clinic gives hunters an opportunity to practice before heading into real hunting situations while receiving instruction in a controlled environment.
The Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club, Illinois Conservation Foundation and Illinois Department of Natural Resources are hosting and sponsoring the event.
Space is limited by the clinic’s small-group format, and interested hunters can register through the event page promoted by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
