Chicago, IL – After nearly a decade off menus, McDonald’s confirmed its fan-favorite Snack Wrap will return to participating restaurants nationwide — including throughout the Chicagoland area — starting Wednesday, July 10.
First introduced in 2006, the Snack Wrap quickly became a staple for customers seeking a quick, flavorful option. However, it was discontinued in the U.S. in 2016, prompting widespread disappointment and years of public requests for its return. This summer marks its official comeback — and this time, McDonald’s says it’s here to stay.
According to McDonald’s, the Snack Wrap will be offered in two varieties: Spicy, which features crispy chicken with a bold habanero-flavored sauce inspired by the Spicy McCrispy sandwich, and Ranch, which includes a cool ranch dressing paired with garlic and onion seasoning. Both are wrapped in a flour tortilla and designed for portability and flavor.
The decision to bring back the Snack Wrap was driven by sustained customer enthusiasm. McDonald’s says it received countless petitions, social media campaigns, and direct messages from loyal fans over the years. One email from a pregnant Illinois attorney read, “I am due July 14th, 2025. Will Snack Wraps be back before then? Please just give me a hint.” Another fan wrote, “If this motion can’t move forward, please make the McChickens a dollar again.”
To celebrate the return, McDonald’s has launched a dedicated website, snackwrapfiles.com, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the rollout. The site features exclusive photos, a fact sheet, and a video message from McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger discussing the fan-driven decision to bring the item back.
