Belvidere, IL – A Huntley duo has been charged after over 50 dogs were allegedly found abandoned at a local dog park. Concepcion Rodriguez, 61, and Bruce Walla, 54, were arrested following a month-long investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Huntley Police Department.

On July 15, Boone County Animal Services responded to Hammertime Unleashed Dog Park in Belvidere, where 54 Maltese mixed-breed dogs had been left. According to authorities, the dogs were reportedly neglected and needed urgent care. The investigation led officials to the suspects’ residence in Huntley, where a search warrant was executed on July 25. More animals were found on the property, which was deemed uninhabitable due to health violations.

Rodriguez faces 73 counts of animal cruelty and 19 violations of owner’s duties. Walla is charged with 19 counts of each offense. Both were released after their court appearance.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact local authorities.
