Illinois Crash on US 45: Two Dead, Four Injured in Will County Collision

Two people died, and four others were injured in a crash involving a garbage truck and two SUVs in Will County.

According to the Frankfort Fire Protection District, emergency crews responded to US Route 45 and Offner Road around 11:18 a.m. Thursday. Officials said an SUV and a garbage truck collided head-on, and a second SUV was also involved.

The driver and passenger of the first SUV died at the scene. The garbage truck driver was transported to Silver Cross Hospital in stable condition. Three of the four people in the second SUV were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash. The roadway remains closed for cleanup and accident reconstruction.

Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. Drivers in the area should seek alternate routes while police investigate.
