Addison, IL – Holiday celebrations begin this week in Addison as the village prepares for its annual Tree Lighting, Santa parades, and a series of family-friendly Christmas events at the Village Green.

The festivities start Friday, December 5, with the village’s annual Tree Lighting held from 5–9 PM at the Addison Village Green. According to the Addison Police Department, visitors can enjoy Santa meet-and-greets, train rides, holiday music, a Living Nativity scene, treats, and activities — with the tree lighting scheduled for 8 PM.

Then on Saturday, December 6, and Saturday, December 13, Santa will travel through Addison neighborhoods on a fully decorated fire truck. According to village officials, the Village of Addison, Addison Police Department, and Addison Fire Protection District are teaming up to bring the annual Christmas Parades directly to residents’ front doors, with Santa waving to families along each route.

Additional events continue on December 6, 12, and 13, from 6–10 PM, when visitors can return to the Village Green for holiday lights, food and beverages, more Santa visits, train rides, museum tours, and special themed entertainment. The Historical Museum and Century House will both be decorated for an Old-Fashioned Christmas and open for tours during event hours.

Admission to all events is free. The Police Department noted that the first 300 guests each night will receive a holiday giveaway. Full parade routes, parking details, and schedules are available at ItHappensInAddison.com.

Residents across DuPage County are encouraged to participate as the community launches one of the region’s largest local holiday celebrations.
