Arlington Heights, IL – The Arlington Heights Police Department issued a public safety alert today regarding the popular Senior Assassin game, which has grown in popularity across the nation, including locally in Arlington Heights. This game, often played by high school seniors during their graduation activities, involves participants using water guns to “eliminate” their opponents in various public locations around town.

Game rules specify that players cannot engage in the game during school hours or on school property. Instead, students typically play in parks, on foot, or from vehicles in residential areas. The goal is simple—avoid being hit by a water gun while attempting to hit others, with the last player standing declared the winner.

However, the Arlington Heights Police Department has expressed concern over the unintended consequences that could arise. Participants sometimes carry water guns that closely resemble firearms, which has led to multiple safety incidents. Last year, reports surfaced about a man running with a gun, causing significant police responses. Authorities are urging players to be mindful of how their actions might be perceived by residents who might mistake water guns for real firearms.

The department is also reminding the community that the game must not disturb the public or violate local ordinances. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by dialing 9-1-1.
