Chicago, IL – A line of kitchen faucets sold on Amazon has been recalled nationwide this week, including in Illinois, due to dangerously high lead levels that pose a significant health risk to young children.
The faucets, marketed under the VFAUOSIT brand, were found to leach lead and other contaminants into the water, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Testing showed the faucets could release lead at levels especially harmful to infants and toddlers, potentially impacting their neurological development.
According to the CPSC, prolonged exposure to lead can cause a range of developmental issues in children, including attention difficulties, lowered cognitive function, and behavior problems. Ingestion of lead-contaminated water poses the greatest risk to young children and pregnant women.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the faucets and contact the distributor, Whisper08, for instructions on safe disposal and obtaining a refund. Customers must submit a photo of the disposed product and provide an order number to qualify. Whisper08 is reportedly reaching out directly to affected customers.
The recalled products were sold exclusively through Amazon, and the affected models include pull-down faucet designs with the brand label “VFAUOSIT.” Anyone who believes they purchased one of these faucets should visit the official CPSC website for more details on the recall and refund process.
