Sheridan, IL – In a bold move, a Sheridan man was arrested after crossing police lines at an active homicide scene.

It happened June 1st at 11:07 p.m. when Joliet Police responded to a reported shooting in the 400 block of Krakar Avenue. The incident was later confirmed as a homicide. As officers secured the area with bright yellow caution tape, 30-year-old Ruben Magana made an unexpected appearance. Ignoring the glaringly obvious boundary, Magana approached the restricted zone.

According to reports, officers repeatedly ordered Magana to stop. Undeterred, he attempted to dash towards the crime scene. Officers quickly moved to detain him, but Magana resisted, refusing to provide access to his hands. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody without further incident.

Magana was processed and released on a notice to appear, facing charges of obstructing and resisting a peace officer. His spontaneous breach serves as a reminder that those yellow lines are there for a reason. So, next time you see police tape, remember: it’s not just a suggestion.
