Pocatello, ID – A strong winter storm is impacting southern Idaho, bringing heavy snow and gusty winds that could make travel dangerous through Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pocatello, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon MDT Tuesday. Affected areas include the Big Hole Mountains, Centennial Mountains, Bear River Range, Caribou Range, Marsh and Arbon Highlands, and Southern Hills/Albion Mountains. Snowfall totals are expected to reach between 4 and 12 inches, with wind gusts up to 55 mph, creating blowing and drifting snow.
In the Blackfoot Mountains, including the cities of Henry, Soda Springs, Bone, and Grace, snowfall is forecasted to range from 2 to 7 inches. Winds in these areas could gust as high as 40 mph, leading to slippery roads and hazardous driving conditions.
The storm is expected to impact Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes, with difficult travel conditions likely due to reduced visibility and snow-covered roads. The strong winds could also cause tree damage.
