Denver, CO – A winter weather advisory is in effect for Colorado’s high country from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, with up to 10 inches of snow and wind gusts reaching 60 mph expected.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver, areas affected include Rabbit Ears Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park, the Medicine Bow Range, and Summit County’s mountains. The storm will bring hazardous travel conditions, impacting both morning and evening commutes on Tuesday.

The advisory warns of snow-packed and icy roads, particularly in high-elevation areas above 9,000 feet, including Winter Park, Berthoud Pass, and the Eisenhower Tunnel. Motorists are urged to use caution, as visibility may be significantly reduced due to blowing snow.

The NWS advises travelers to check road conditions before heading out by calling 511 or visiting www.cotrip.org. Those venturing into the mountains should carry emergency supplies and prepare for delays.

This late-season snowstorm is typical for Colorado’s high elevations in March, though strong winds may exacerbate travel challenges. Ski resorts in the region may benefit from fresh snowfall, while those traveling should remain cautious amid changing conditions.
