Boise, Idaho – Boise is bracing for a punishing stretch of triple-digit heat starting Sunday, July 13, as a high-pressure system locks in above the region. The National Weather Service warns that temperatures will soar to 101°F by Sunday afternoon, triggering a summer weather alert for those traveling, working outdoors, or vulnerable to heat-related illness.
According to the NWS, Boise will see sunny and hot conditions all day Sunday, with winds shifting northwest at 5 to 8 mph. Monday will bring more of the same, topping out again at 101°F, with only minor relief overnight when lows drop into the upper 60s. I-84 drivers and road workers should be especially cautious — roadway temperatures can climb 20 to 30 degrees above air temps during peak sun hours.
Tuesday’s high will reach 98°F, slightly cooler but still dangerous with prolonged exposure. Wednesday and Thursday will ease only slightly, with highs of 95°F and 96°F, respectively, and mostly clear skies offering little shade.
This heatwave comes amid a dry stretch with no rain in sight. Fire danger will remain elevated across the Treasure Valley and foothills into midweek.
More heat advisories could be issued, and cooling center locations will be shared by local emergency management if conditions worsen.
