BOISE, ID – Strong winds will impact southern Idaho on Monday, with gusts up to 50 mph expected in Boise and Mountain Home. A wind advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and forecasters warn of potential power outages and hazardous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds will range from 25 to 35 mph, with peak gusts reaching 50 mph. Loose objects could be blown around, and tree limbs may fall, posing a risk to power lines and roads. High-profile vehicles should exercise caution, especially on Interstate 84 through the Treasure Valley.

Beyond Monday’s wind event, Boise’s weather will see shifting conditions throughout the week. Tuesday brings calmer conditions with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s. By Wednesday, a slight chance of rain returns, increasing to 50% overnight, with lows dipping into the mid-30s.

Thursday’s forecast introduces the potential for a rain-snow mix in the morning before temperatures climb to 51°F during the day. The system moves out by Friday, bringing sunshine and highs in the mid-50s to start the weekend.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items before Monday’s high winds and prepare for possible rain later in the week. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and travel advisories, especially if driving in exposed areas during the wind advisory.
