RIVERTON, WY – Despite the arrival of March, winter conditions persist in Wyoming, with snow and strong winds expected early this week. A storm system moving in Monday night could bring accumulating snow and blustery conditions, impacting travel across central Wyoming.
According to the National Weather Service, rain and snow showers will develop Monday evening before transitioning to all snow overnight. Winds will pick up, with gusts reaching 22 mph, creating blowing snow hazards. Accumulation is expected to remain light to moderate, but slick roads could affect morning commutes on Tuesday.
Tuesday will see lingering snow showers, mainly before noon, with a high temperature of 41°F. Northerly winds will continue, making for a chilly and unsettled day. Conditions improve slightly midweek, with partly sunny skies and a high near 48°F on Wednesday. However, another round of snow is likely late Thursday into Friday, with a 70% chance of accumulation.
Motorists should be prepared for changing road conditions, particularly along major routes like U.S. Highway 26 and Interstate 25. Drivers are advised to check WYDOT updates before heading out.
As winter holds on, residents should stay weather-aware and prepare for fluctuating conditions throughout the week. Warmer temperatures may return by the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-40s.
