Boise, ID – A significant winter storm is set to impact southern Idaho and eastern Oregon, bringing heavy snow, high winds, and dangerous travel conditions through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 5 a.m. MST Thursday until 11 a.m. MST Friday. Snow accumulations between 2 and 10 inches are expected, with the highest amounts in Harney and Malheur counties, the Lower Treasure Valley, and the Weiser Basin. Winds could gust up to 45 mph, especially along the Snake River, creating blowing and drifting snow.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate, with slick roads, reduced visibility below 1/4 mile, and possible road closures. Commuters in Boise, Nampa, Twin Falls, and Baker County should plan for delays Thursday morning and evening.

Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel and prepare emergency kits with flashlights, food, and water. For real-time road conditions, drivers can dial 511.
