Idaho – Residents in Boise, Idaho, are under an air stagnation advisory until 5 a.m. Sunday as poor air quality continues to impact the region. With a high-pressure system in place, limited wind and vertical air movement are trapping pollutants near the surface, leading to potential health risks, especially for people with respiratory issues. Locals are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially on Saturday, when the advisory remains in full effect.
According to the National Weather Service, air quality may continue to deteriorate across southwest Idaho and parts of neighboring Oregon until Sunday morning, affecting areas such as Caldwell, Nampa, and Ontario. On Saturday, Boise will see mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching up to 55°F and calm winds, which will contribute to stagnant air. Saturday night brings a slight chance of showers after 11 p.m., but the air quality may not improve significantly until after the weekend.
Looking ahead, Sunday will remain partly sunny, with highs near 56°F. However, Veterans Day on Monday is forecasted to bring rain to the area, with a 70% chance of precipitation likely to start in the late morning and continue into the evening. Temperatures are expected to reach around 54°F on Monday, with rain potentially clearing pollutants and improving air quality in the following days.
The air stagnation advisory remains a pressing concern for the weekend. Health officials recommend that individuals with respiratory sensitivities follow precautions, limit time outdoors, and monitor air quality updates from local authorities. By Monday night, the expected rainfall may help alleviate some of the poor air quality conditions.
