Shawano, WI – Wisconsin drivers are urged to exercise caution this morning as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Freezing drizzle and light freezing rain have left roads and sidewalks dangerously slick across Shawano, Florence, and surrounding counties.

According to the National Weather Service, areas of untreated roads are especially hazardous, with reports of icy patches even on main highways. Motorists traveling along US-41 and State Road 55 should reduce speeds and allow extra time for morning commutes.

Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing through the morning, increasing the risk of additional icy spots. By Saturday, forecasters predict clearing skies, with highs reaching the mid-30s. However, a wintry mix is expected to return Sunday evening into Monday, creating further travel challenges.

Residents are advised to monitor road conditions using Wisconsin’s 511 service and prepare for potential power outages due to ice accumulation. Use caution on untreated surfaces and avoid unnecessary travel during icy conditions.
