Boise, ID – A winter storm is set to blanket southwestern Idaho this Saturday, creating treacherous travel conditions along I-84 and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service, 2 to 5 inches of snow are expected in lower elevations, with mountain regions receiving up to 10 inches. Snowfall is forecast to intensify Saturday morning, leading to slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly near Boise, Meridian, and Nampa. Drivers should exercise caution and prepare for delays as conditions worsen.
The advisory remains in effect through Saturday evening, with additional accumulations expected overnight. Winds reaching 15-20 mph may lead to drifting snow, further complicating travel.
Authorities urge travelers to delay unnecessary trips and prepare emergency kits, including blankets, food, and water. Snow chains are recommended for mountain passes, particularly near McCall, Cascade, and Fairfield.
