PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A misty dawn greets the region this morning as western Pennsylvania braces for its first measurable snow of November. Damp roads and patchy fog are the early warning signs of a sharp temperature drop that will turn drizzle into flakes before daybreak Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain develops later today and gradually mixes with snow as colder air sweeps in from the northwest. Light accumulations — generally under an inch — are expected across higher terrain in Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington Counties, but slick roads and reduced visibility could affect travel along I-79, I-376, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The brunt of the cold settles in Monday night as lows plunge into the mid-20s, the coldest air of the season so far.

By Veterans Day, lingering flurries give way to drier skies and a brisk, cloudy chill. Highs will hover near 38°F, with wind chills in the upper 20s through midday. Those attending parades or outdoor ceremonies should bundle up — even short exposures will feel wintry in the gusty breeze.

Through midweek, the pattern remains cold but stable. Skies brighten by Wednesday, and temperatures rebound slightly into the upper 40s to near 50°F. Still, early signs point to another cold snap later next weekend as Arctic air builds again over the Midwest.

For now, Pittsburgh’s November weather shift marks the region’s first winter tease — wet leaves underfoot, breath in the air, and the unmistakable sense that fall’s final act is playing out fast.
