Hyannis, Massachusetts – A Hyannis man faces trafficking charges after police seized over 4.5 kilograms of cocaine during a multi-agency investigation.
According to the Barnstable Police Department, 34-year-old Alex Fraga was identified as an alleged source of cocaine distribution across Barnstable and surrounding Cape Cod towns following a months-long narcotics investigation.
On Friday, April 17, detectives, K-9 units, and regional law enforcement partners executed search warrants at three Hyannis addresses simultaneously. Agencies involved included the Barnstable Police Detective Unit, Cape & Islands State Police Detective Unit, Yarmouth Police K-9 Unit, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration Cape Cod Resident Office, and the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team.
During the operation, Fraga was stopped in his vehicle and allegedly found in possession of approximately 100 grams of cocaine. Searches of his residence and an additional suspected drug distribution location led to the seizure of more than 4.5 kilograms (4,500 grams) of cocaine and approximately $125,000 in cash.
Police said Fraga was transported to the Barnstable Police Department, where he was booked and charged with trafficking a Class B substance (cocaine) over 200 grams.
