Morehead City, NC – As of today, the Atlantic hurricane season has reached its peak. While temperatures feel like fall, over two and a half months of hurricane season remain. North Carolina residents are urged to stay prepared.

The National Weather Service announced they will host community forums to educate residents on hurricane readiness. According to the service, the next forum will take place Friday at 3 p.m. at the Hatteras Community Center.

These events aim to provide crucial information about the history of hurricanes and storm preparedness strategies. A second forum will occur Wednesday, September 18, in Pinetown, followed by another on September 23 in Belhaven.

Residents attending can learn how to safeguard their homes and families against storms. Officials emphasize that even after today’s peak, the threat of hurricanes continues through November.
