Naperville, IL – A large crowd of teens and young adults converged in downtown Naperville on Friday night, prompting a significant police response and resulting in multiple citations and a felony arrest.

According to the Naperville Police Department, the gathering drew up to 200 individuals and became disruptive, leading officers to issue numerous citations for alleged unlawful behavior and violations of city ordinances. Among those detained was a 15-year-old girl from Aurora, who was arrested and charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery to a police officer. She also faces misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and obstruction.

Police say this was the first of two major incidents over the weekend involving large, unpermitted gatherings. On Saturday night, a second meet-up of approximately 100 people occurred on the northeast side of the city, where individuals allegedly engaged in reckless driving and lit fireworks. One 20-year-old man from McHenry was arrested Sunday following an investigation that allegedly linked him to criminal behavior at the event, including reckless conduct and mob action.

Authorities are using these incidents as a public reminder of the city’s zero-tolerance policy for disorderly conduct and gatherings that jeopardize public safety. Increased police presence is expected in downtown and other busy areas throughout the summer.
