Houston, Texas – Thunderstorms will likely disrupt afternoon travel across Houston Thursday as storms build after 1 p.m. and spread throughout Harris County.
According to the National Weather Service, a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop Thursday, mainly after lunchtime, with a high near 87°F. Winds will shift from the south at 5 to 10 mph, pushing heavy moisture inland. Drivers along I-45, I-69, and I-10 should expect reduced visibility and slick roadways through the evening hours.
Rainfall amounts may vary but could reach up to half an inch in some spots. A few areas may see ponding on streets or short-lived flooding in poor-drainage zones. If thunder roars, head indoors — lightning risk will increase after 2 p.m.
