Houston, Texas – Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected across Southeast Texas today, with some locations nearing record highs before slightly cooler conditions arrive this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Houston–Galveston, daytime highs Friday are forecast to climb into the upper 70s to low 80s across much of the region, including Houston, College Station, Katy, and Baytown. Coastal and inland areas alike are expected to run well above early January averages.
Forecast data indicates temperatures will ease back over the weekend, though conditions will remain warmer than normal for this time of year. Highs Saturday and Sunday are expected to fall into the upper 60s to low 70s, with overnight lows mainly in the 40s and 50s.
The National Weather Service notes that no significant precipitation is expected through the weekend, with dry conditions dominating across Southeast Texas. Rain chances remain minimal through early next week, with only isolated chances returning by midweek.
Looking ahead, forecasters say the warming trend will strengthen again next week. High temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 70s and possibly low 80s by Monday and Tuesday, continuing a pattern of winter warmth across the Upper Texas Coast.
The warm conditions may be noticeable for outdoor workers, students, and commuters, particularly during the afternoon hours when temperatures peak well above seasonal norms.
