Houston, Texas – Wet pavement and scattered showers may greet commuters early today, but Houston is heading toward a bright, warm weekend. Drivers on I-45 and other major roadways should use caution through the morning as light storms taper off and roads remain slick.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are expected to clear by mid-morning Thursday, leaving mostly sunny skies and highs near 88 degrees. Northwest winds up to 10 mph will help push drier air into Southeast Texas. Conditions improve further Friday, when sunny skies and highs close to 89 degrees take hold.

The weekend looks like classic early fall in Houston. Both Saturday and Sunday bring sunshine, warm afternoons near 89 degrees, and cooler nights dipping toward the upper 60s. Outdoor plans, from youth sports to festivals, should have clear weather. However, residents should stay mindful of hydration and sun safety with temperatures running hotter than normal for late September.

Looking ahead, the first days of October start warm with highs near 88, but a weak front could drop nighttime temperatures closer to 71 by Monday. Another push of drier air may set up a more noticeable cool-down deeper into October, offering a potential early preview of fall’s first chill.

Warnings have expired for today, but residents should check for updates if additional storm chances develop.
