Houston, Texas – Anyone heading outdoors Tuesday across Southeast Texas will face dangerous heat within hours as temperatures climb into the 90s and humidity pushes apparent temperatures well above 100 degrees during the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service office in Houston-Galveston, warm and humid conditions will continue overnight with lows ranging from the mid-70s to lower 80s. By Tuesday afternoon, highs are expected to reach 90 to 96 degrees across much of the region, while heat index values surge between 102 and 107 degrees.

The hottest conditions are expected across the Houston metro area and surrounding communities, including portions of Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Brazoria and Galveston counties. While skies will be partly cloudy at times, little relief is expected from the humidity as Gulf moisture remains firmly in place.

The combination of heat and humidity can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially for people working outdoors, athletes and those without access to air conditioning. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned locations and avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.

The summer heat pattern is expected to remain in place across Southeast Texas through the week, with additional heat advisories possible if temperatures or humidity trend higher. Residents should continue monitoring local forecasts and take precautions during afternoon and early evening hours.
