Houston, TX – Southeast Texas faces a mix of mild weather and potential storms in the days leading up to Christmas. Residents planning holiday travel should stay alert for weather changes, especially Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston, Monday will remain sunny and warm with highs near 71°F, but rain is expected to develop Tuesday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms, some severe, are predicted to impact the area through early Wednesday morning. Rainfall could lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying areas near the I-10 corridor.

Tuesday night’s storms bring a 60% chance of rain, with gusty winds and heavy downpours expected. Christmas Day looks to bring relief, as the weather turns sunny with highs reaching 73°F, providing a welcome break for outdoor gatherings.

By Thursday, another wave of thunderstorms may arrive, with a 50% chance of precipitation lasting into Friday. Temperatures will stay mild throughout the week, with highs in the 70s and lows in the mid-50s to low 60s.

Officials urge travelers to monitor weather updates, especially for road conditions during storms. Those with plans for Christmas Eve are encouraged to prepare for potential delays or detours.
