Milwaukee, WI – Drivers across Wisconsin are urged to exercise caution tonight as freezing drizzle and light snow are expected to create slick roads. The National Weather Service warns that conditions could worsen into Monday morning, potentially impacting the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, freezing drizzle is likely after midnight tonight, with south winds gusting up to 30 mph. Snow is expected to mix with the drizzle by early Monday morning, with temperatures hovering near freezing. Little to no ice accumulation is expected, but slick spots on untreated roads could develop.

Monday’s forecast calls for snow transitioning to rain by late morning as temperatures rise to 36°F. Commuters should prepare for reduced visibility and icy patches, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and less-traveled roadways. Officials recommend allowing extra travel time and avoiding sudden braking.

Looking ahead, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are expected to be cloudy but mild, with highs near 38°F. Patchy fog could linger in some areas due to melting snow, reducing visibility during holiday travel. Rain chances return on Thursday afternoon, with temperatures climbing to a high of 42°F.

Residents are advised to monitor updates from local weather services and prepare for changing conditions throughout the week. Spotter activation is not anticipated, but road crews will be out treating major thoroughfares.
