Honolulu, HI – A Flood Watch is in effect for all Hawaiian Islands from Wednesday evening through Friday morning as a strong storm system approaches the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Honolulu, a developing low-pressure system west of Hawaii will bring heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms. The system is expected to pass just north of Kauai on Thursday, with a cold front moving eastward across the islands through Friday morning.

Officials warn that excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding, particularly in urban areas and low-lying regions. Roads, streams, and drainage areas may become overwhelmed, potentially causing closures and property damage. Residents should remain alert for further warnings.

The heaviest rain is expected to begin on the western islands Wednesday night before shifting eastward Thursday. Thunderstorms may accompany the downpours, increasing the risk of rapid flooding.

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued. Emergency kits, evacuation plans, and staying informed through local authorities can help ensure safety.

For updates, check with the NWS and local emergency management officials.
